Central's Pastoral Staff
|Stephen was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He and his family moved to Canada, settling in Kitchener where they attended Bethel Baptist Church.
During his teen years Stephen had the opportunity to participate on summer mission teams involving open air ministry and preaching. His home church recognized the gifts God had given him and began to give him opportunities in youth services and eventually in a summer internship to preach God’s Word.
Following his graduation from London Bible College Stephen served for a year as a pastoral intern at Wortley Baptist in London Ontario.
He then became the pastor of Gladstone Baptist Church. During the time that he served here he earned a Master of Divinity from London Baptist Seminary and a Master of theology from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary.
Stephen became the Senior Pastor of Harrow Baptist Church and served there for 17 years and received his Doctor of Ministry from Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary.
Stephen is married to Marlene and has two children, David & Melissa. David is married to Kyla.
Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
2looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Alan enjoyed a balanced and loving upbringing in Toronto living in a stable family with an older and younger brother. Through providential circumstances and a time in the hospital when he was 12, he was introduced to Christian Service Brigade in 1964 and asked Christ into his life at the Brigade camp in the summer of that year.
His closest friends became his church friends and, after graduating from a radio broadcasting course after High School, he went to Central Baptist Seminary to learn more about what he believed and to deepen his faith.
Upon return from asummer missions trip under Sudan Interior Mission in 1974, he knew that God was calling him to full time ministry. Alan married Helen Pearse in the September of 1974, a pastor’s daughter who also attended CBS. Alan , continued his education, graduating in 1977, and once again, God, orchestrated their lives to be called to Temple Baptist Church in Cambridge where he served as the youth pastor for 23 years and as an associate pastor for 2 years. Helen enjoyed her ministry alongside Alan in the youth ministry while also teaching at the Christian Academy and raising 2 sons.
God led them to Shenstone Baptist Church, Brantford in 2002 where he served as the Lead Pastor for over 12 wonderful years of ministry. Helen has served as the Administrative Assistant at CEF for the past 5 years.
In January of 2015 their lives were again adjusted by the Lord …. Alan is now involved mainly with the Seniors at Central Baptist, Brantford and is anticipating God working in people’s lives in wonderful ways.
The verses they have claimed at this stage in their lives come from Psalm 71:16-18 “I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only. O God, You have taught me from my youth and to this day I declare Your wondrous works. Now also, when I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come.” (NKJV)
Jeremy was born into a home where his parents taught him and his two sisters about what it means to love God and love others. He came to recognize his need for a Saviour at a young age and placed his trust in Jesus. Over the years, God continued to grow a desire, in Jeremy, to know the Word of God in a way that effects real life.
Jeremy has received formal education from the Word of Life Bible Institute (Schroon Lake, New York), Jerusalem University (Jerusalem, Israel), Cairn University (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; B.A. Biblical Studies). He is a certified Biblical Counselor with the Association of Biblical Counselors and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Biblical Counselling (Faith Seminary, Indiana). Jeremy also has experience working in construction (which comes in handy with all of his wife’s diy ideas and projects!). Jeremy has served in camping ministries, college and youth ministry, worship teams, small groups, and as both Intern and Interim Pastor at his home church.
He met his wonderful wife Jessi while working at Word of Life in New York (a really great story for another time!). They were married in 2009 and now have 2 kiddos; Emmalee and Luke. Jeremy enjoys working out, coaching basketball, playing music, riding motorcycles, and a good cup of coffee. He jokes that construction got him into coffee and his kids keep him into coffee!
2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work” (ESV).
